How to refund a sale deposit

Once the deposit has been refunded on the sale by the sales department, the admin team will need to refund the deposit from the accounting side.


This action is only required if the deposit has been banked


  1. In the Accounts Payable tab, click Make Payments, then Pay Your Creditors.


  2. Select the Client, and click Payment.


  3. Enter the Bank Account you are paying from.
  4. Select the Payment Date and Payment Type.
  5. Enter a Reference and a Narration.
  6. Select the Payment Line Item you are refunding, and click Post.


The deposit amount will only display in creditors once the sale has been delivered. If you are refunding the deposit while the sale is in a pending status, you will need to journal the amount out of the deposits account into creditors
